It may not be particularly cold in L.A. yet, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of opportunities for a holiday on ice. Here are six spots where you can slip into some skates and onto the rink this season.
L.A. Live, Westfield Topanga, Westfield Valencia
Take a spin around a gargantuan christmas tree at L.A. Live’s annual skating rink, or pay a visit to one of the Kings’ two other rinks, both located at Westfield malls so you can get in some shopping after you nail that double Lutz. Nov. 30-Jan. 12, 2020; multiple locations.
Downtown Santa Monica
There’s nothing more L.A. than ice skating at the beach. This popular 8,000-square-foot rink in downtown Santa Monica offers solo or group skate lessons, private cabanas for birthday parties, and full schedule of free musical performances on Sundays. Through Jan. 20, 2020; the corner of 5th and Arizona, Santa Monica.
For 22 years, the L.A. skyline has been the backdrop for the Holiday Ice Rink in Pershing Square, one of the largest rinks in the city. A silent disco, curling lessons, and Frozen-themed skate nights are a few of the special events on offer this season. Through Jan. 20, 2020.
Located close to Burbank City Hall, this family-friendly rink is surrounded by festive trees and penguins, and features plastic reindeers and seals for ice-wary kiddos to ride on. Dec. 12-Jan. 5, 2020; 150 N. 3rd St., Burbank.
Along with skating around a 26-foot-tall Christmas tree at the North Pole Village, visitors to the Queen Mary’s holiday extravaganza can enjoy train rides, gingerbread housing-making, stocking decorating, and more. And of course, they’ll also see the ship decked out in its holiday finest. Nov. 29-Jan. 1, 2020; 1126 Queens Hwy., Long Beach.
Festive music and hot chocolate abound at this cheery West Valley rink. Head to the mall for some holiday shopping afterwards. Through Feb. 2, 2020; 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.
