A former Cal State Fullerton administrator was stabbed to death in a parking lot on the school’s campus by an unknown suspect this morning. Although today was the official start of the academic year, students aren’t back in class till August 24.

According to the OC Register, the victim, an Asian male in his fifties, had retired from the institution but was working in international admissions. The suspect is being described as a Asian male in his mid-twenties; the attack appears to have been targeted, so police aren’t classifying him as an active stabber.

The CSU Fullerton Police Department tweeted that they’ll be increasing patrols in and around campus in response to the incident. A police K9 unit was seen searching for the suspect near the 57 freeway just after noon.
